Got milk?

Today's wallpaper is a bit late, but it's here anyway... this girl might have been drinking milk. MAYBE :P

Blah, need to sell stuff.

This is the wallpaper... all the girls from Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. Not ecchi, but the eyes and the colors make it beautyful.

Oh, dinner time, this needs to be quick. Today i spent the afternoon with Dead or Alive 2 on the Dreamcast... good time.
Enjoy the weekly wallpaper with a vampire or something.

Good morning, angels.

You know it's going to be a nice day, when your computer greets you with a "No more space left for application swap".
Anyway, bac to the weekly wallpaper. What to say.... dunno what kind of party those girls had, but hell, that room makes mine look perfectly tidy. Also i guess that somebody has already seen this *wink*

Death to the corpses!

I'm nervous and pissed. I'm looking for a certain game, it has to be PAL. I found it on eBay... prices: ebay.it 54 euro + shipping, buy it now. ebay.fr 21 euro + shipping, 3 hours left for the auction. ebay.de 5 euro + shipping, one day till the end of the auction, and i still have no clue if it ships to italy. ebay.co.uk around 11 euro + shipping, buy it now... they bought it super fast -_-' started yesterday, this morning was already gone.
So now i'm waiting for some german to see my english and google translated german message asking if he ships to italy, while i'm suffering for the last 2.41 hours of auction in the .fr one.
Man, am i pissed. What can i say? All hail the PS3 with it's almost completely region free game park, and fuck to the Xbox 360 with it's crazyly region locked games. Hard to find 360 exclusives are the worst... especially since the shit's region locked.
Anyway, back to the weekly wallpaper. This time you get a dreamy picture with six girls. You'll enjoy it :)
P.S. I have no clue why this post title. I guess i finally snapped, lol.

So, saturday i ate sushi. Got to say i'm not a big fan of fish in general, but sushi is pretty good. Though it fills you up too fast :-|
Anyway, back to the wallpaper has tow girls from Touhou. Enjoy!

Firmware 2.40 in a couple of days? Yay!

So, today on the PlayStayion blog have been posted 2 videos, detailing the much wanted XMB in game function, as well as what can be done from there, and the Trophies (that i believe it's pronunciated like Achievements, lol). Two nice add, that i'll be happy to use when this new firmware will be out, in a couple of days. Very cool.
Back to the wallpaper, this time i'ts really a simple one, with a girl from Ikktousen. Don't ask more, as i never watched that anime XD

Hi, i'm a Snake. And i'm a P.... holy shit, Snake's on a plane! O_O'

So, i finally got MGS4. A bit difficult, maybe... almost at the beginning i got "stuck-ish" where there is that tank and the soldiers looking around. Yes, pretty much the second level :D Problem is, i probably passed only because i always get used to Metal Gear doing the first play at the lowest difficulty. I mean, i was worming my way on a sidewalk a couple of meters away from a soldier :-| i doubt that with a normal difficulty setting i would've been able to do that. And i still have no clue on how to pass from there in a better way! Damn.
Other than that, the game's sweet. You can tell cinematic sequences are long, but not long in a "Jesus, let me play already!" way (sort of like what i didn't like in MGS2... long, boring, senseless...). Those are actually pretty good, and i must admit that i'm impressed by the "casual" placing of the computers in the game. Move the camera to the left while talking with Otacon on the codec, and you'll see 2 Apple Cinema display _AND_ a Macbook. Another scene when a few persons need to escape, an old friend reloads the gun... and _CASUALLY_ at the center of the screen, just near said gun, there is a MacBook Pro. I mean, fuck. As much as i like Apple products, this is insane... i'm afraid that next time i'll see Otacon, he'll show me a "I'm a Mac. And i'm a PC." commercial :-| Mind you, i'm not complaining about the presence of those, i'm complaining about the commercial like placement! Hell, i even noticed Macs in the background of JAVs (funny how they always appear during sex scenes, lol)... it's sort of like an insult to my ability to spot them. I did like instead the fact that the iPod Snake has, dosen't have any description. Good, that would've been a total commerical, better this way.
However.... i'm missing all the jungle survivial from MGS3. Shit, how much i love that game. Whoops. I just realized that i haven't used it in like a year. All my food must be rotten :-| Also the war battlefield setting dosen't appeal me too much, but it dosen't hurt the game, so it's cool :D
ANYWAY..... a catgirl is forever. Diamonds can go suck, i want catgirls XD

EARLY WALLPAPER! lol.

Today i had to wake up early to go to the hospital and see how the healing was going, so i'm tired (lol, how unusual). However this marked the end of the mess, as my next appointment is just a check... in a couple of months! YES! Also the band aid they put on is scaringly small, and this is a good sign, too.
On unrelated news, i readed some reviews of Metal Gear Solid 4, and now i want it. I mean, if the lowest vote it got is 80, and the critics are how it has long cutscenes (well, i'm used to that, it is MGS we are talking about... lol, so much time spent on the CODEC, lol), how it's not innovating itself (that is a bit weird, as in other reviews they make it seems like it's completely different, but as it's been _ALWAYS_ good gameplay i have no issues) and finally how the shooting system is "old". Does this mean it's not an FPS? YAY, <3 :D
Obviously i'm broke, so i need a bit of time to buy it (and the fucking videogame shop is full of MGS4! Unspeakable.)
Anyway, the wallpaper is early today, as i'm awake right now, but plan to get back to sleep in a few moments.... and you get a super sweet-lovely image with two girls in bed. <3

Fux.

While things are going doubtlessly better, tomorrow i have to wake up early to get visited, and that pisses me off. A lot.
Anyway, back to the wallpaper, that is a nice girl in a swimsuit.
Also.... are you ready for the big event? I mean, the 12th of june Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released, and while i'll wait for a couple of reviews (also because "worldwide release" dosen't include where i live, lol) to avoid the big disappoint i had with Metal Gear Solid 2, i know people has already pre ordered it :)

Dedicated to the Rising Sun

Ahh the night-shift ... power-outages fly, generators kick in, wake-up calls shatter the murky silence. It's all so magical.

Anyway, I felt like plugging this, since it only comes to my speakers from time to time. A co-worker of mine recently introduced me to his site: rainwave.cc . Now, I had underestimated the geekiness of this place, but there it lay before me, a game-music server. But it's so much more! He coded this engine from scratch apparently, with users and votes and stats, shit damn! Suffice it to say, it has kept lonliness at bay for many nights now. So drop rainwave a line if you like!

Also, I've been hitting the consoles hard lately, in a desperate bid to reclaim my youth. Recently on my list of reruns: Dragon Quest, on my beloved Nintendo DS!! (I'm talking DQ4, but I couldn't link to their retarded flash site directly.) But yeah, they did the game pretty good justice, with a responsive mostly-text GUI and sort-of-3D graphics. One huge burn, though, is the added "save-state" save slot; you can reload from it freely, and you can save to it from anywhere. In short, it's not a game, it's an e-book. I had to force myself to never use it, just to avoid crying myself to sleep at night. Why would they do this?!

As root points out, not only should it not have this feature, it should randomly erase your quest, so as to fully recreate the authentic feel of the original NES cart. ;)

Anyway, turns out they're bringing 4 to america, so who knows what other slaps to the face we can expect. More importantly though, they're doing V and VI too, which I have not yet played. SWEET. Time to get my Kanji on.

Well, I was hoping for some screens to post, but nuts to that. I'll just post a Loli of the Week instead. This is to express my distaste of childhood-wrecking design decisions in game-porting! Not to mention my distaste of night shifts ...

May the light shine upon thee

UPnP for the rest of us. (lol)

Ehe, that post got my attention.
First of all, yesterday was my birthday (i'm 24 now) and this is important, because it basically started everything for this post. Anyway... having an Xbox 360 networked, made me try some stuff, namely... well, everything it had to offer without spending money, and this included streaming videos. Absolutely useless for me, given that the screen where the 360 is plugged is, lol, partly covered by my laptop's screen, that needs to be closed a bit to see the other screen fully, but testing is always fun and it was interesting to get my music from the network. Also my brother could use something plugged into the tv to watch movies. Anyway, i readed up stuff, and found out that there was Connect360, a nice software to do exactly what i wanted. On the paper. Reality is a bit different, though: even if i have Perian installed, the amount of stuff i could play was pretty limited. Was it fault of the 360, or the software? Let's say both, and be fair. However, it needs to be said that it is really simple to use, and quite reliable. Maybe a little slow to start mp3s. Then this friday i got myself a niiiice PS3 (GT5 Prologue bundle, great little game!) and i obviously had to do the same testing with the PS3. Reading on forums sort of told me that i had two choices: MediaLink or EyeConnect. Given the previous experience with Connect360 that is from the same peeps that makes MediaLink, i decided to try EyeConnect. Nice little software, really customizable, the ACL is simpler than Connect360's one, a good deal of features. Damn it, they had to make this stuff picky! The 360 dosen't like EyeConnect -_-' so i should run two media server at the same time. Also, the PS3 dosen't seem to like that thing too much. Sure, i could watch my EyeTv recordings and other videos/music/pictures in several folders scattered everywhere on my computer, but it's not reliable. Why it skipped 3/4 of a song once? No clue. Also, why it becomes invisible to the PS3 after i turn off and on again the PS3? O_O' and it can be dead slow. Yes, admittedly opening a folder with thousand of files can be an hard task, but, damn. Anyway at the moment that's what i use, even if it's waaay less than perfect.
I wasn't really interested in MediaLink, too many "dangerous features". Copy cat? Sure good thing. However last time i was looking for console software i used iPSP and PSPWare, and while iPSP wasn't awesome (a little glitch here and there... a serious mem leak if a feature is used....) it ended up winning due to the nazi coding of PSPWare! Shit, if i put a movie on the stick, i want it there. It's not like "PSPWare didn't put it in that place, so it must be deleted"! However i had foreseen that this sort of issues might come up, so i had a backup of the whole stick. Fine, let's use the drop boxes feature to add stuff not from PSPWare favorite sources... wtf, where are my "drop boxed" files? Not on the stick? So, yes, iPSP that time won due to the "attitude" of the other software, and today i'm not going to try stuff that moves files from the same company.
Reading up stuff, i heard about Twonky, that apparently is good stuff. However it looked a bit too complicated and possibly overkill for my needs (the PS3 is plugged to the same screen as the 360! I seriously needed it only for testing stuff) and i decided to leave the experimenting to some other people.

Yes, yes, i know "where the hell is the wallpaper?" Here, featuring a pretty girl on a very pink background. I have the feeling this isn't the first time i posted it, but it might be because i wanted to post this for quite a while.

UPnP for the rest of us geeks

Been a while since I posted in here, but I felt like doing a little technical writeup, and figured this was a good venue.

Well, my lifestyle is taking quite a spin lately. First the PS3 hurls me back into some serious gaming, then my Xmas bonus hurls me face-first into a new TV, the Viewsonic NS3235w to be exact. (I'll talk about the new car some other time. :P ) Eventually, I got to thinking, after trying a few manually downloaded videos: isn't there some way to pull videos off my server? Sure enough, the PS3 uses some bullshit UPnP protocol to connect to "Media Servers".

Needless to say, I need UNIX software; you won't catch me dead with Windows Media Player running my videos ... First thing I tried was uShare . It had some library requirements, but it ran out-of-the-box. But it didn't do shit for media; all the PS3 could play off it was MPEG1, for some reason. So, scrap that. I read some forums, looked at a few sites, and tried MediaTomb next. It had *more* requirements, and a more involved setup (let's just say, mySQL is involved), BUT it is a more versatile app, and lo-and-behold, lots of media works!

What perfect timing for me to get back into anime, as I discover that an extensive number of fansub releases are PS3-playable! There are still some issues though: oddly enough, in any given series, encoded with the container, audio, and video formats, most titles will play, but some random ones will not. Also, MediaTomb has some mean memleaks, which seem to be tripped by certain file formats. On the plus side, it does support transcoding, so theoretically any file can be made to play.

Anyone else looked at this? Drop some comments! I'll post some more someday, if I get it working any better.

yadda yadda

Last time i had a nice chat on irc it happened a thing that honestly, i love. What might it be, you ask? People writing in "italian as heard from somebody". I love that. Lots of fun in seeing words that get a perfect (or close to that) pronunciation written in a way you wouldn't expect. "Scuzzi scuzzi" will probably be my favourite for along time, lol. Those are the things that make the differences in languages a lovely thing (btw, did you know that in japanese bread is called "pan"? Pronunciated like the pan to cook stuff? AND written and pronunciated in the same exact way it fucking means "bread" in my dialect? LOL.)
Anyway, the wallpaper this time is a lot pink. You know how i like pink wallpapers. It's also really cute, i hope you'll like it :)

Title with nothing to do with the actual content of the post. lol

So, tomorrow it's the worldwide release of GTA 4. I know many people dosen't care about it :D but it's still a "big" release. Personally i won't get it so soon, for a few reasons... main three is that 1) i'm saving money 2) local videogame shop won't have it before a couple of weeks, most likely 3) soon it's my birthday, and maybe i can cash up enough money to buy a PS3 _AND_ GTA4. We'll see.
Anyway you are here for the wallpaper, so get this big one from Code Geass (i actually have no clue on what kind of anime it is, but meh).

P.S. Dead Rising is funny. lol.

Yay for evolution!

Today my new laptop arrived. It's fast. Really fast. Both compared to my actual "desktop" and compared to the laptop that it's replacing. Basically i jumped from a 1.2ghz G4 to an intel T7300 (dual core, 64 bit...) and i can ensure you it's sensibly faster than my old intel T1200. Also i ordered a gizmo, the Elgato Turbo.264, an hardware h264 encoder. All nice and so on, but what really got me impressed was the framerate on the new laptop: 104fps to make a PSP readable h264 video. Well, shit. I'm not used to that kind of speed. Especially from the slow ass Quicktime h264 encoder. HOWEVER there must be a bug in the software, given that it uses all the cpu power it can, even if it's not needed :-| i did a test, seen what amount of fps it was doing, "sudo renice +20 pid" and it didn't drop, but the cpu usage dropped whenever i did something else. In the end i did a +500 (random numbers, don't ever believe i'm aware of what i'm doing... all i know is that positive numbers mean less cpu priority, while negative ones mean more priority. Maybe 500 is even out of scale, who knows.) and it didn't hurt the encoding speed at all. Perfect, till it's a software bug everything can be solved. Hopefully soon. Also if the idea interests you, the Turbo.264 is essentially a personalized version with driver for OS X of the ADS Instant Video To Go.
Anyway, you don't care about this stuff, nor you can care about the fact that i had to get this new laptop due to a logic board fault in the G4 ;_;, but here you get a valentine's themed wallpaper. Eat sushi! :D

Geo symbols have left me in despair

Ever had a chance to play Disgaea? It's a great game, awesome humor, not the usual plot, lovely characters and so on, but it has the item world. It's cool as it can make your items a lot more powerful... however maps and stuff are completely random in there. And at least in the psp version there is a serious bug. Do you know what that image means? It means that there is a gatekeeper for the next level (ok), that it's on a geo panel (ok) and that the geo panel is under the influence of a few geo symbols (ok).
So what? First, the gatekeeper can't be lifted and thrown away due to a geo symbol, and that applies to all other geo symbols on the geo panels (ouch) and there is also an invincibility geo symbol so that what is on the affected geo panels won't suffer any damage. Well, shit. That makes the level impossible to pass, given that gate keepers won't move for any reason, i can't destroy geo panels, lift them or even only lift/kill the gate keeper. ;_;

Now, for the weekly wallpaper, you get a very cute image, sporting a girl gust barely covered with a bed sheet. Hot.
P.S. the title shows that i'm watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei... it's an incredibly funny anime, watch it if you can. Never tought anybody could make suicidial tendencies fun, let alone _THAT_ fun XD

Nin nin <3

So, lately Disgaea came out for PSP, and i admittedly was skeptic about it... after all it's sort of like FF Tatics, and the HELP MENU of that thing managed to scare me away. Disgaea is fun, though, and no scary help menus there. Nin nin <3
I'm not sure if i actually like the game itself, of the unspeakably lol-inducting plot... no matter what, i like it. I truly hope they will push the ps3 version to top quality graphics, using the bestest texture and special effects possible. The sprites are fine, though.
Also it came out DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for the ps2 (i hate this title, too long and difficult) and being based on the awesome engine of Budokai Tenkaichi 2 it has solid gameplay, but that's nothing exceptional, what actually amazed me was the good pseudo next gen look they gave to the game: super sayans have that glowy "bloom" effect on their crazy hairdo. I love bloom. Moreover, it's actually a fun game, and it was about time. There is Arale (LOL) and looking at team battle with limited "destruction points" it appears that she is as powerful as Broly at hs basic stage. However, at the lowest, and a-bit-less-than-average difficulty, i couldn't not notice that the "Legendary Super Sayan" stuff is crap: i mean, Mr Satan can't copete with anybody, seriously. And his single destruction point (yes, the only charachter with only ONE destruction point) dosen't stop him from beating to a pulp Broly. What do you know... better luck at average difficulty, dood. But mostly it's a fun game, with special moves that made me laugh, picture this: badass Broly vs Arale, in Arale's town, special super move, and Broly gets kicked out _exactly_ like any random charachter in Arale would (waving arms and so on, lol).
Yes, i found a Dragon Ball game i truly like.
Back to the weekly wallpaper though. This time it's Vocaloid2 time. Youtube it, japanese are crazy and there are indeed a lot of videos (especially lol the Gradius one). However, i'm not fully satisfied with this. Next week it will be Etna's turn to star on Eatsushi's pages, dood (or ~ssu). :D

I want my router back.

Catgirl, catgirl.
YAY! :D
This week's wallpaper sports a super cute catgirl, some spilled milk (there is a bottle, so it has to be milk XD ) and a lot of cuteness. She's got quite some boobs, too.

lulz

Yes, lulz at my hope to get a fixed router quickly. It's been shipped back to ZyXEL to get it fixed. Wikipedia says "Headquarters Hsinchu, Taiwan".
Well, fuck, this _after_ at the shop they told me it will probably take like 20 days. Now i know it's quite likely -_-'
My only hope at this point, is that my router is long out of production, and i'll get a newer one. BTW, i microwaved a cd, it's cool. Cope with the quality, i used the GO!Cam on my PSP.
Anyway..... this time the wallpaper is a summer one, with a... gifted catgirl and some sort of cute thing stealing her top. Hopefully this hasn't been posted before XD
chef alex [10:36 am, November 19, 2007] (2 comments) | add comment or discuss in the forums

poof!

My router got roasted... it was already faulty, but in the end it gave up. I don't even bother connecting to chat services (or IRC) anymore with this old one, given that, apparently, it changed IP like 10 times in 24 hours. I just can't see myself coping with all those connection drops.
Anyway, today's wallpaper is techno, and extremely on the bondage side.
Hopefully in a couple of days i'll have a new/fixed router again.

Extremely long post

Actually, nothing is on my mind. So just get this wallpaper with a girl on the floor (what happened there?) and eat sushi. :P

Smooth as silk

This week's wallpaper is from some h-game as well. BUT this one was in a pretty high resolution, so quality is higher than the latest ones, due to lack of resizes :)
Plus i really like the whole "covering not too much with a bedsheet" theme. Ehe.

_| ̄|○

O_O' today i fell asleep like half an hor before lunch, and woke up less or more half an hour before dinner.
I must be tired, lol. Anyway, the wallpaper this time is a lot "dreamy pink" while being cute and a bit funny. Yes, resized from an image of some h-game i forgot XD
Hopefully the post title shows up correctly XD

Welp, for those folks who don't really want to install a copy of mIRC, I have thrown up a CGI IRC setup. Why not try IRC today?

Tired, but happy.

So, i'm really tired. This wallpaper is here just because i was scrolling all the tabs, and noticed Eatsushi... yeah, not a really reliable way to do things, i know. I've been gaming like crazy, lately. Day and night, totally too much XD
Anyway... this week's wallpaper was just 800x600, but i like it so much, that i did everything i could to make it look good even after a good resize. I'd say it ended up quite well, with nice colors and all :D
Cheers and eat sushi!

Because those are overly cute.

Busy day.....

Today i had a bunch of stuff to do. Not being used to that, it took me more time than i guessed. Anyway, from my point of view, i'm kinda half an hour late, this week... yep, GMT+1 makes this 2 october. Ohhh, well. Lesbians based wallpaper will keep your mind busy on different matters :P

Fly me to the moon...

Today's offer is a cloudy wallpaper, with an extremely cute girl. :)
Cheers and eat sushi!

rawr.

I'm pissed. Not because today's wallpaper is late, like last time, no. It's because i've been messsed up pretty much for a week or two. And tomorrow i need to do stuff, i can't be all sleepy and whatever. Grr.
Anyway, this week's wallpaper is... weird. It's the kind with pastel colors and bright, and pinkish. The art isn't exactly awesome, though. Hovever lately i've been lolling at dumb moves in Naruto fighting games, so you get anyway this Hinatawallpaper.
chef alex [4:31 pm, September 17, 2007] (14 comments) | add comment or discuss in the forums

Yawn~~~ sleepy

Today i had stuff to do (seriously, lol) and forgot about the wallpaper, so it's a wee bit later. No big deal anyway.
Hopefully all of you will love the usual boobs + guns mix, because this time it's incredibly hot! I just hope she won't shot by mistake, it would be kinda embaresseing explaining that at the hospital :D

The dumpster

It was recently asked who/how 'The dumpster' is maintained on EatSushi.org.
Essentially it has been replaced with the Eatsushi Community Project which is tied into the forums. Instead of me having to upload content, now anyone can. Its limited to images (I know I promised video like months ago but... well it'll come eventually) but still, will totally phase out "the dumpster" section as soon as I get around to migrating the old content over.

I know for sure somebody is going to appreciate this wallpaper more than usual :)
Simple, sexy, and made in Shunya Yamashita!
Anyway, i wanted also to post my new site's url (no wallpapers there, sorry). It's still very new, but i'm updating it often, like, at least once every day. It's a news site about tech and stuff. :)

So, today's wallpaper isn't an interlaced PNG. Woah, 500kb saved, it's going to load sooooo much faster :P Anyway, this time i think i managed to find a really cute image, of a girl putting her socks on.

So, today i got a nice picture. It was kinda big, though. I had to make it smaller. Hope no complaints will come from... lol, it was fucking huge, a 10mb png, photoshop sucked all my free hd space to tell me i had not enough to open it. Anyway, i picked a reasonably huge resolution, too. Click here to see Zero Louise in this weekly wallpaper :D
Thanks to Shuugo for giving me the scaringly huge image.

kekeke

Recently, someone on the IRC channel linked to a page hosting a new flash game, entitled "VTech Rampage". Naturally, laughs were had all around. But I went back later, and the game appeared to have been removed! Eventually I found the original creator's site, and I do not perceive any danger of a takedown anymore, but just in case, I thought I should preserve this masterpiece on the Internet myself.

And so, I give you: VTech Rampage.

In other news, I bring you another Loli of the Week. Oh man, a Loli with a katana?! I would let her cut me, any day. I especially enjoy the little bit of hair peeking out from her jeans. XD If you like this one, check out the artist's site ... I don't know if that character is an original or not, considering he has all these photos of model kits of the same character. That'd be pretty badass though, I love the character! Anyway, what amused me the most was that in most of the artwork, the girls are crying, or molesting, or being molested, or all of the above. Dude must throw some awesome parties. Let the H-times roll, Sakuya-san.

3 levels of stealth and murder!

Death of Fallout, Part II (I just can't let it RIP >_<)

I don't really want to make the eatsushi news posts into my personal rants, but I just HAVE to let these things out of my head.

To raven: yes, I had some hope they captured the 'essence' after watching the trailer. But that fell apart after I looked at the Game Informer article (if you haven't seen that, its up at the No Mutants Allowed site).

Anyway, so now that the GI article is out, there is a lot of differing opinions on what to make of it. It seems most fallout fans like me think that fallout is no more, yet there are these people who seem to believe the 'true essence' of fallout is still there. I cannot fathom the minds of these people. What is even worse is these people are claiming that everyone who's been complaining about the fallout-attempt by Bethesda are rabid haters who can't appreciate a good piece of work. Normally I do not feel the need to defend myself and others against trolls like this, but I feel the need to defend what fallout was, is and continues to be for the many of us.

Fallout is first and foremost an RPG. It was based off the PnP (Pen and Paper) system. What this means is that what the original developers and many of its fans (maybe not some) intended for fallout to allow for is a highly flexible world that depended on the CHARACTER's skills as chosen by the player. NOT by the trigger-happy-twitch skills of players. The whole POINT of an RPG is to ROLE PLAY. IE acting out a character as they're defined, chosen, set, whatever. It makes no sense to have a RT component of battle where some super-nerd that has no strength/perception can pick off enemies like a master sniper because the player has good twitch-skills. If we wanted that, we'd go play an FPS.

Now with regards to the 'essence' of fallout, how does reading an article which has descriptions of an encounter with giant ants, and the elimination of them by causing a Mini-Nuke Explosion through the BLOWING UP of a nearby NUCLEAR-POWERED car sound like capturing the essence of fallout to any true fallout fan? Or maybe the hand-held nuke launcher. Or the 'updated' 90s feel to the look of the clothing as opposed to the 50s feel of the original Fallout 1/2. Or how the new super-mutant looks like a crazy mindless orc?

What's with the degrading weapons and the need to look for food/water anyway? I don't mind those perse, but it doesn't really make a game good if I need to consistently find new clothing/weapons and drinking from piss-bowls every 5 min or so to prevent myself from running around naked, bare-fisted and dying of hunger, dehydration and radiation. Realism is good, but part of the allure of games _IS_ the fact that its _NOT_ real and you don't have to worry about every little detail. Just imagine what pokemon would be like if you have to feed all them little buggers every few minutes.

Also, it has been noted that Bethesda has been VERY actively clamping down on everyone who seems to disagree with some aspect of the game. In fact they've tried to cut down discussion about the battle-system in their forums right before this article came out, and have censored sites which have been vocal in their criticism on the Bethesda interpretation of the fallout franchise. Gee, alienating a good half chunk (at least) of the original fanbase of the fallout franchise seems like a smart thing to do, makes you wonder why they even bothered getting the franchise instead of just making their own post-apocalyptic Elder Scrolls expansion in the first place.

Anyway, just felt like I had to get that outta my system before I get so annoyed that I go postal.

*********************************************

Okay I felt like I had to come back to this post and add this. Reading posts on some forums and stuff, it seems like there are many attacks on fallout fans who ENJOYED the old battle system, claiming that these fans are RPG freaks who enjoy crazy long time consuming battles.

First of all. Fallout was an RPG. Its successor Fallout 2 was an RPG. Normally you would expect the THIRD installment to the series to be an RPG. Normally, for games, they do not change genres from on installment to the next. That is to say you wouldn't really expect an Action RPG to turn into an Strategy RPG or vice versa between installments. I seriously doubt fans of *shiver* Halo would expect Halo 3 to sudden turn into an Action RPG from a FPS.

Second of all, we RPG freaks (and I AM PROUD to be a RPG FREAK) do not *enjoy* long time-consuming battles as a result of limitations of a turn-based battle system, but rather we feel it is the lesser of two evils. At least this way players are not penalized just because they can't twitch as fast as some other players.

Third of all, people keep saying that Fallout was not just about the battle system, so any changes to it would be OK.

I *fully* agree with people who say that Fallout was not *just* about the battle system. So these people should *not* have a problem with *keeping* the original battle system then by that exact same argument. Fallout was about the character you made. Which *includes* the supposed combat abilities of that character. RT does NOT allow for this. There has been *no* known exceptions to this, at least not to my knowledge.

Anyway, I hope I won't feel the need to talk anymore about this, but I can't seem to stop myself from reading the continued posts about this, as I truly feel like it is the end of one of the true Gems in western PC gaming.

************************

For raven: If you read the article again, you should realize that the battle system was described as targeted shots in a 'paused' mode using AP, which when you run out of you can continue a FPS-like RT combat until the APs recharge. IE bullet-time stuff. More like a funky add-on to RT combat than anything. And the RT portion will be more effected by *player skills* than character skills as RT games by definition depend a lot more on the response-time of people playing.

************************

Came across this post on an 1up blog. It sounded so nice that I *just* had to post it.

Too bad I'm not as optimistic about the end result as I don't think it'll go the way of the ending to 300. =/

Death of Fallout, RIP

I haven't posted anything in a while, and I don't really have anything eatsushi to say today, but I felt like I have to rant about this somewhere and get it out of my system, so here it is, read it if you want.

Today marks the official day in which the Fallout franchise will finally be put to rest by me, it was a good run. It is the only western RPG that truly had much replay value for me. I bought the first game to the series way back in '97, thinking that it was just something cheesy I could use to kill time with until the next japanese game I was waiting for came out. I was wrong. It was amazing. Its only true sequel, fallout 2 came out the next year. I greatly enjoyed that as well. I had hoped for fallout 3, but alas with the demise of Interplay that was not to be. When rumors of another company picking up the franchise was spread, my interest was peaked, but I had reservations. When it turned out that Bethesda had picked up. I weeped. I did not think fallout will ever enjoy a true sequel when I heard that. But I still hoped. Hope is what keeps us going. Today my hope was crushed. I saw the magazine scans from Game Informer. The franchise which I had cherished. That I had followed. That had a special place in my mind. Was no more. They had mutilated it. Just as the movie industry has been methodically been mutilating every show from my childhood memories. What they did to it was like what they did to the ninja turtles with that latest movie, or what they did to the transformers. Today marked the end of Fallout for me. Goodbye enjoyable violence and gore. Goodbye questionable values and morals. Goodbye tasteful sex and drugs. It was the only western game which did not bow down to the pressures of society. It was the only western game that actually treated people like they were responsible beings able to make their own decisions. I will probably never play another western-developed RPG ever again. All my last remaining bit of faith in western-developed RPGs is gone. RIP Fallout. The only western-developed RPG videogame that I ever truly enjoyed.

Wrooom!

I bought WRC and Ridge Racer 2 for my PSP.... till now WRC got my full attention, but i know i'll like RR2.
Thank Sony for the whole free online demo thing :D
One thing keeping me from feeling sad by my lack of a PS3 is really the number of racing games aviable. And no, RidgeRacer isn't enough to justify it :P. What's worse, though, is that the "RedRingOfTheDeath"360 has Forza Motorsports2, so one way or another, i'm feeling sad. Yay.
Anyway, back to buisness: this time i offer you a simple wallpaper, but still looking good. I like that tank alike thing, and the uniform :)

Big deals, lol

So, today i slept. Nobdy cares. Except me. I wanted to go out, and see prices for games, maybe looking for those old ones bundled with some kind of hardware... like SOCOM with the headset, that apparently nobody buys, and usually gets lower prices. Sometimes lower than the game alone, and it's good. That's the kind of deals i'm looking for.
Anyway, here is the weekly wallpaper, featuring vampires. Hot ones, given that i can see Morrigan.

Launching a personal site

Welp not to spaaam too much, but I'm moving my personal articles (and photo gallery) to a new site: www.root1.org

I originally used to post a lot more personal project entries here, but as the focus of the site became more of the adult/anime nature, I have weened off of it. So we'll leave that as the focus of this site, and make it as NotSafeForWork as possible. Har har har.. All off the 'comments' for the new page will be directed to the forums so its all guude. Easter, Wester, Norther, Souther.

Well, i love how my easter turned out. The "I'm gay, my wi fi will stay without any password forever, and i'm proud it's been like that for at least an year" dude has the access point in a comfy place... at least with sun and no wind, since for us it turns to be outside, but under a small table. Also, Florence is the cradle of renaissance, and that's where it's stuck. Nothing newer allowed there. It's been 25 days. Twentyfive. My iBook's uptime without any issue, including a quick test before we got on the car. As soon as i got there, the system preferences went all gay, making me wait (this in a second try!) 2 minutes to show me the "Sharing" menu. And i still couldn't use that stuff, it was completely stuck there. At least it rebooted without any "hack" :-\
Please consider that this kind of shit always happens to my electronic toys, when we go to Florence. Always.
Moreover, the travel to get back home is 2 hours long, unless you get some traffic and need 4 of them. ;_;
However, even after all that shit, i'm here, posting the weekly wallpaper.
Eat sushi and enjoy :)

Dumb move... lost 7 days of post comments

Good evening sushi lovers. In a really stupid move, (while trying to clean some spam posts), I nuked the entire comment table. Gotta watch those SQL fingers :)

Anyway, I only backup the SQL weekly, so the restore was missing about 7 days of comments. I apologize sincerely for this idiocy, and may step the sql backups up to nightly for comments (the entire comments backup is like 50kb compressed).

This of course did not affect the forums which are in a different table of the database, the forums second week saw another 350 posts, quite a great start!

Sand, sun, hot.... you know, summer.

This week i decided it's summer time. Well, at least in the span of time i spent looking for an ecchi wallpaper, that's it.
Those things seems to have a name, and it should be micro bikini. Hot, indeed.

Cherrs and eat sushi!

Hapi barentain

So. In a couple of days it will be St. Valentine's day. A commercial thing, chocolate gets more expensive, and so do flowers and stuff.
(yeah, i'm going to spend it all alone, how did you guess it? ;_;)
So, this weekly wallpaper is on a strike.

Do like House, assume everyboy is telling lies, and click it XD

Luck, mechas, bandages, weirdos, religious quotes and introspection.

I got a mail requesting a wallpaper... something NGE related.
Believe it or not, i have been thinking to post this picture of Asuka since a few weeks. So, well, you got lucky, very lucky XD
BTW, anybody has a clue why PS CS3 turned her suit orange while saving, when in the working space it was bright red? o_O'
Cheers and eatsushi :D

weekly world news

I'd like to start out by complimenting the post below with a different vision of Rikku ;p. In the same vein as last weeks post, here is another NSFW flash about Rikku. Unfortunately it cannot be delivered on the web and also cannot be hotlinked, so link to this post. You have to run each part (exes) one by one in sequence. Part 01 Part 02 Part 03 Part 04 Enjoy responsibly, away from nice lcd screens, and what not.

Last week Cisco released a vulnerability they had been sitting on for awhile, that affects all IOS switches and routers. There is no actual exploit of this in the wild, but its time to upgrade your gear. All telecom gear has upgrades, and any recent/supported enterprise platforms. Theres plenty of workarounds though so its not that bad even if your old enterprise gear was unsupported.

A more positive upgrade was PS3 update 1.5 last week, which fixed upscanning on broken PS2 titles. It looks absolutely gorgeous on the 3 titles I tried which didn't work nicely before. I'm thrilled to say the least. Back to nursing my head cold, cheers and whack-safe.

NSFW Sunday Afternoon

Here is quite an impressive h-flash featuring Jessica from DragonQuest 8 (~80MB total). As the post title indicates, this is NSFW, aka it is enjoyable. (You will be unable to direct link to the URL, so link to this post if you must) Turn the speakers up to enjoy the original voice acting! (thx Neko) Cheers and eat something,

Just a quickie

'Finished' my handheld fling of the past few weeks today, Castlevania Portrait of Ruin (Gallery of Labyrinth in Japan). As with all the Castlevania games, a real gem on the NDS. Worth 3 plays to really get your fill. Couple easter eggs / don't misses: 1) hold L while selecting a mode (i.e. Game Start) from the title screen to enable the original (Japanese) voices 2) hold up for awhile to make characters pose, well worth it :) Cheers, Nick

The car goes "Wroom wroom"

Let's talk about Pursuit Force... again :)
Career mode is over. In just a week. Kinda short! I had great fun looking that blue idiot jumping on running cars, sure, but it's already over. Now i should (LOL) get gold in every time trial, race, and then all the career missions. Very lol. And that just to unlock some images and cars? Whatever... good game, but too short. And the last mission is to kill a bunch of people, then killing the boss of them. he is on a big truck, one of those that carry cars, you know. Whatever you do, don't get a slow car! That thing runs like hell, most likely over 300kmph -_-'
Saturday an electronics shop was having discounts (up to 50%), so had a look. PSP games were extremely out of that discount, ditto for NDS ones. There were a bunch of pseudo HD tv at low prices BUT too high for me, and dad has no intention of getting something different from our old CRT Sony Trinitron 29"
Whatever, i don't watch tv, usually.
Then another shop... ZOMG Need for Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0 platinum! ... Yeah, other 20 bucks gone.
First impression was extremely bad: no drift mode. In Underground i managed to get millons of points, and totally loved drifting. BAAAD thing it wasn't there. Then the game itself is nice, good graphics, nice blur when speeding. The cops get me back to old NFS, like 3 or 4. At the time you had to use _FAST_ cars, not small shit to fill with hp during the game. Why they have to put a crappy M3 GTR as what looks the best car in the game?? Seriously. Hot pursuit2 had quite some lovely cars. But noooo... they had to start using tuners cars! It's sad. Anyway... it's fun and enjoyable, looks good, has nice extra modes (like the one that lets you double the cash if you outrun the cops) and the cop mode. That was more funny once upon a time.... with spiked strips and stuff. Now it's all about crashing onto the other cars :-|
It has online racing too! I tried it. 5 people connected, 4 rooms, one for each of the other 4 guys. -_-'
The thing that really got me suprised was the noise it makes when reading from the UMD: almost none. Compared to some of the other games that sound like they are putting kittens into a blender, it's pretty cool.

Anyway... this should be from Xenosaga. Or something. Here is the weekly wallpaper.
This post's title is up for the most stupid title ever :D

Wii-view

I bought a Wii (thx to DualSoul, who also got me my PS3 like a month ago) earlier this week. Unfortunately I haven't had time to post my initial nights thoughts until now. Work and such.

The first thing you realize when you unpack the Wii is the shear number of parts, and how well/overkill they are all wrapped. Unpacking over, we examined the parts included. The big disappointment was the sensor bar. The wire is incredibly thin, to the point where I am sure over time, anyone who travels with their Wii will wreck it. Now I introduce this figure here which shows the cost breakdown of the Wii and that the total price to make one (at launch ofcourse) is $158.30 (USD), the wholesale price being $195, Nintendo could have spent an extra 50 cents? and put a better wire on this guy. Hell generic USB quality wire would do. The second pisser, the Wii Sports game comes in a really shitty paper case, as I guess a standard Wii case or hell even jewel case would have eaten away at their profits?

Stage 2 was hooking it to my TV, which would come some 6 hours later into the night. Of course the bundled cables look absolutely awful, as the Wii's UI relies heavily on clean graphics, which look awful on Composite video. You *need* component cables, and since 1st party are rare, the more expensive 3rd party have to do. To my incredible disappointment, I had totally forgotten the Wii had no digital audio output. Instead relying on my arch-nemesis, shitty Dolby Prologic. Of course I turned Prologic off, relying on stereo, and making that input on my receiver perform Hi-Fi DSP to upscan the stereo to my 7 speakers evenly. Not bad, but still weak sauce, Nintendo did have some breathing room on the price. Worse yet is some games rely heavily on the speaker built into the Wiimote, which is pretty low quality to say the least. It sounds like the speaker on the original 4 battery club-some-one-to-death Gameboy. If you could redirect this to the normal audio output, I'd be happy. Hell if you had included digital audio, you could even direct it to the rear speakers where the player is.

Wii sports varies from amusing to just annoying. Its not a very good demo of the technology, as alot of the games use the Wii mote's motion sense pretty poorly. Thankfully there are alot of cool launch titles, including Zelda, Elebits, and hell even scummy evil Korean Pang-ya (Super Swing Golf when published by Tecmo).

The Wii UI is just awful, following Nintendos recent bad UI designs. Atleast this one is field upgradeable (Thanks Nintendo DS!) That whole TV screens thing just doesn't work for me, especially since 90% of them are empty and still I can scroll to see them. Seems sloppy, but atleast I don't have to reboot it after I exit one of them :P (Nintendo DS)

The final major annoyance is the online. My house has, lets just say, a bit of an overkill ethernet network. Of course I do have Wifi, I just don't prefer it. A (crappy) Realtek ethernet chip and rj45 header would have set Nintendo back.. $2 per unit? I know its pretty small, but comeon. Anyway the wifi is fairly slow, even though Nintendo's download service is hosted by Akamai. Not quite sure why, since PS3s service is also hosted by Akamai too, BGP anycasts to the same two paths from my home (depending on congestion at either: torix and NAC), and is much faster. May have been a bad night, cant judge it. Anyway the Wii asked me if I wanted to enable WiiConnect247 so I said why not. When I powered it off, Sure enough the light was no longer red and the thing retained heat. Nintendo claims it only saps about 7 watts, aka as much as a small light bulb. But honestly, I don't leave lightbulbs on 24/7, so its gonna cost something per month to run it. Not that network gear, computers/servers at home aren't worse however. Sure enough 10 minutes after I closed my eyes the Wii was pulsating blue to tell me it had downloaded something for me. Knowing it wasn't porno I got up and walked over and yanked the power. A few days later I haven't bothered to plug it in and disable WiiConnect247. Maybe this weekend.

All and all, not impressed, judging that theres a 100$ difference between what it costs to make and what people pay in stores, theres alot of niggly little things they could have fixed. Hell lets not forget the strap recall even...

UPDATE: Another cheap-ass annoyance. Theres an Opera logo on the box, however Opera is not included. A trial of Opera is available for download in the Wii store 'channel', we can only presume the full version will be 30$ or so (ala Nintendo DS) UPDATE2: I take that back, the full version is free between March and June 2007, and after that its only about 5$.

Unfinished?! Ontop of the fact that the Wii doesn't include Opera despite it being on the box, the SD card slot doesn't even work out of the box. You need the first system update (which bricked many peoples systems). Can I get a rush to market? Thank god for internet updates this time...

Invest money!

Erm, ok. So for xmas i got mostly money, and that's quite common, for me. Usually i start planning how i will use them BEFORE xmas. Again usually, when i get them, i can make clearer plans, since i know the sum.
This time i got a wonderful idea: keeping most of them to start a PS3 found, then getting new earphones, and depending on the price of those, maybe a videogame.
So... what has that to do with the weekly wallpaper (yay for pink!)?
Easy. I got on a tournee in all the places that sell videogames here, and made my mind: Metroid Prime Hunters for my DS, Pursuit Force + Burnout Legends + Breath of Fire 3 for the PSP. I might had spent an whole hour looking at games, prices and box images, but somehow i managed to get one game i kinda knew it would be good (Burnout) and 3 others that i had the luck to find very good.
Starting with the first one i used, Pursuit Force, i have to say that the graphics are amazing, tough in some situations fps drop in a scary way. "It's like Frogger, except that it's more like a blue rabbit jumping on cars and killing people"

Burnout Legends: usual Burnout fun, smashing cars out of your way, good graphics and so on. "So, Officier, what did i do?"

Metroid Prime Hunters: O_O' a DS game with _MOVIES_! And PSX alike graphics! The control system was a bit mean in the beginning, but then once you get used to that, it's quite good. The online mode is awesome, too. Also the only other person i know that has it, it's a complete loser, so i never lose :D "Let's play some Samus-Katamari!"

Breath of Fire 3: this time i'm fucked up. I love it. The dragon morphing thing is lovely, characters are well done and lovely. So, yeah... i kinda didn't sleep in the last 3 days, and this afternoon i got a bit carried away. Sorry for the delay XD

NOOOOOOOOO, AERO NOOOOOOOOOO!

Today i want to talk about the Photoshop CS3 beta, that Adobe released a couple of days ago.
It's free for grabbing if you have a valid serial for CS2, you know.
Anyway, this finally runs natively on Intel Macs, meaning a lot less ram used and faster "everything" (after all skipping the ppc emulation layer can't do anything bad), but i totally dislike the icon. Sure, it's a beta, and the final one will be most likely less fugly. But still..... then, the interface. omg. Who the hell worked on that? WHY it has to jump from Mac OS9 to Vista's Aero? o_O' couldn't we get something less old than OS9, and not that futuristicly ugly as Aero? Nooooooo, they had to do it.
Sob. At least it's less resource hog than the previous one ;_;
Well, all this Photoshop talking... for this tiny wallpaper of a cute girl looking with anticipation XD (beware, it's _BRIGHT_)

P.S. i might not be able to connect for xmas, since i'll be at my gandma's, and the guy with open wi fi might be away, with the router off. This means the next wallpaper might be a couple of days later, depending on the aviability of that connection, thanks for understanding.

Unseasonably warm this week ...

I didn't have much to post about lately, but I can't possibly let Alex take all the eatsushi glory! So I'll just mention some random stuff here. Now this might not be news to some, but I only just recently discovered this, The Zophar Nintendo64 USF archive. Damn, they claim it was last updated a whole year ago ... I've been waiting for this for ages! If you dig your N64 music, you can take this site to the bank. I also like their props to the original title of "Ultra64", with the .usf extension; if I can find my Nintendo Ultra64 hat, I'll be sure to get some photos.

I might have written about a mysterious sake that my brother-in-law brought to a party, back in the summer. Well, I found it, at the big LCBO in Woodbridge, no less: Momokawa Diamond. (They also had Moonstone Peach at this location.) I bought some for a friend's birthday, and got to try a little more, myself. I wouldn't call this a premium brand (it is not made in Japan, after all!), but it does taste better than some of the "premium brands" I have tried, so ... I would estimate 8 out of 10 Drunken Masters recommend the Momokawa label. I guess they are still deliberating on the Moonstone brand ... :P

Here is a very special Loli of the Week, I've been wanting to post it for a long time. It's so cute! You know, I watched all of Gunslinger Girl, but I didn't really like it that much. Maybe because there weren't any scenes like this one? :D

Gentlemen, start your wanking!

Oh oh oh!

So, it's december. Soon it will be xmas.
Anyway, Parallels just got a new beta, and this one is indeed cool. A lot faster than before, and adds new and exciting functions, like Coherecny, that allows to "waste" less space for the virtual machine, making the desktop a big hole. So, for example, if you are running IE7 on a virtual Windows, and under that you have a Finder window, simply a click on the latter will do the trick, instead of the old Expos? or Dock click, or, or or.

Anyway, here is the weekly wallpaper. Nice roasted skin :D

I is back

Ok so its been *AWHILE* since I've posted anything. Each week its like, just post something, just post something, just post something. Between work, what little gaming I've gotten done (35 hrs in the past... 3 weeks? Ok not SO bad), just haven't had that much time, or anything interesting to write about. And for that, I present you readers with this clip as a gift [SFV] (not safe for your work, safe for my work) that I have cut from my evil (evul?) collection for you all.

Story 1 - Windows Vista. So while messing with VPN solutions at home, I tanked the TCP stack on my only Windows box (Running XP Pro SP2) so that I couldn't upload more then 32KBytes. (Like it would stall, no matter what protocol, SCP, FTP, samba etc). I decided I was too lazy to reinstall XP Pro SP2, and as per Brandon's recent kudos, I installed Vista Ultimate (the RTM which is basically final).

Now Vista comes on a DVD with a virtually intervention free (minus partitioning and license selection) installation. Once its up it benchmarks your PC, which takes quite awhile. My scores are all > 4 (out of what I don't know), except for my RAM which is 2.0 on the dot. My Windows 'PC' is really a decommissioned customer server, P4 2.4, 3Com GigE-SX NIC, a Radeon X1300 XP I threw in for $60 (~USD) like 4 months ago, and a gig of DDR333 ECC/Reg. Clearly Windows Vista doesn't appreciate my ECC/Registered memory, but again, I'm too lazy to actually change it. Challenge one, had to get my NIC working. Vista did not detect it, and would not even find the XP drivers I grabbed from 3Com.com. However once forced, they work, with albeit worse network performance than XP, which was already worse than 2003, which was already worse than Linux on the same box.

Next step, deuglifying Vista. Vista ships with windows that are like.. blurry glass, shadowy etc, ugly MacOSX style :p, except even more overkill. You can however turn this all off, and return to 'classic theme', with that done it looks like: OK not so bad.... You also have to disable 'access control' so it will stop bringing these popups that you *must click* before you can do anything every time you copy a file outside of your home dir, try to run a scary exe, etc. With that done, Vista runs pretty well. I thought it was notcibly slower at first, but I seem to be used to it now. I have run into issues with RDesktop in Linux connecting to Vista. First off, you need to enable connection from non Vista clients in the System control panel (what cocks). Next, you cant connect at all with RDesktop earlier than 1.50, so the 1.41 thats in portage is a nogo. Even with the latest 1.50, the session times out occasionally, unexpectedly, and requires a reconnect. A bit of a pain, otherwise the experience has been fine though. This story WILL continue!

Story 2 - Dell rules. Honestly. Now a lot of the following story isn't news to anyone who has had a Dell product, against their will. Dell offers/forces support on all their products. If your company is stupid enough they will buy expensive support. One of our clients, a European ISP, has a full rack of equipment with us, an OC12 backhaul to their network, and a GigE from us. We don't provide any support to their servers, hell we don't even know which is which, what IPs they use, etc. All of their servers are Dell, and all of them have the Dell GOLD support. If you are unfamiliar with Dell GOLD support, it is supposedly a 4-hour turn around time, 365 days a year. Sounds good? Just listen.

Customer calls me at 9:30am on a Sunday. Server is dead, they want me to go onsite for Dell intervention. I say okay, ofcourse I was planning to sleep till noon, but whatever. They call up Dell canada, overseas. To make this part of the story short, it was about 2 hours before they got anyone other than hold music on the other side of the phone. They gave Dell my cell # and Dell said they would give me a 45 minute heads-up that they would be at our datacenter within the next 4 hours. I went out to grab some coffee and brekfast/lunch, and sure enough an hour or so later Dell called me, to tell me they would be there at 14:10. So we're already outside of 4 hours, but supposedly its just bad RAM (according to Dells remote hands diagnostics), so it should be quick right?. I get there, Dell guy is on time, he says 'have the parts arrived?'. Now I had heard Dell techs don't bring the parts, they ship them separate (same day, like 1 hour couriers), but totally forgot. Sure enough no parts had arrived. Now the tech was a nice guy. Dell outsources their actual support to Unisys (remember the mainframe company from 20 years ago?). We went and the box was locked. I told him it was customer equipment and I don't have the key, the customer is overseas no less, BUT aren't the Dell keys generic? He says naaah they're not. I grab a key from a different server, shove it in, and unlock it. Now he plays with the box for awhile. RAM still not arrived yet, its been awhile.. He starts pulling RAM and discovers... Its not the RAM thats bad, its the second CPU. The RAM we don't need finally arrives, 17:00 or so by now. The RAM came by the old fashioned indian-in-a-sedan courier, the dude wouldn't even come to the front door, I had to run out to go get him. He orders a new CPU from Dell, to more confusion because Dell users different part #s in Europe, and you cant just say 3.2ghz 800mhz FSB, 2mb cache, etc. So now we must wait at least an hour or two for this new CPU. At this point I've been sitting infront of IRC watching him for for like 3 hours, so I suggest we grab food. We grab a burger and come back, kill another 45 mins, and the CPU arrives. Thankfully this courier actually came in to deliver it. CPU socketed in, machine booted, passed stress test and I notified the customer, this is about 19:00.

Now really... How hard would it be for Dell to stock their outsourced techs with PARTS. Like CPU, RAM, drives, nothing fancy. And remember to tell your management, that Dell GOLD = only 4 hrs when they want it to, and that you should check the fine print. Its a joke really, I could have gotten a CPU out of our own stockpile (Would void Dell warrenty ofcourse) and fixed it by 10:30-11:00, or hell, ran to a store and gotten a Xeon (not many stores carry real Xeons, so I'd have to pay a real premium) by 12:00-13:00 at worst. Never *ever*ever* buy Dell.

Peace out, big ups to Alex for keeping this place rolling while I've been AWOL. Cheers!

Blabber and wallpaper

Well, well, well.
This has been a busy week. I got Animal Crossing: Wild World and it's a time sink. Seriously, most likely the only good reason i can think of the DS as a console.
Then they finally released GTA: Vice City Stories here. Ohhhh, talking about a time sink. 20+ hour of gameplay in this first week. And i'm only at 40%. Sounds like a "San Andreas" length, not too much a "Vice City" one, verrry good. I also layed my eys on Need for speed Carbon for the psp. The screenshots online look good, but the ones in the back of the box probably are form a ZOMG scary hig end computer. ACtually, it seems like the in game graphic is a lot similar to the first NFS underground, good. I'll tell you what: the graphic looks good on every system, even the gba (i'm talking compared to other titles for the same system, clearly), the DS one looks like NFS 3 or even 4 on the ps1.
Anyway, her a very funny link to YouTube, Whismaster Misheard lyrics, it's mighty funny.
I also did a test. Unwillingly, but i did it. Once i got this neat not4chan FireFox extension to mass download a whole thread in 4chan, nto4chan and other imageboards based on the same engine. Extremely cool. Anyway, back to the test. So today i started FireFox (latest stable, FF2) and went to 4chan: pretty picture, open in new tab, again, again, again, nice thread, opene in new tab. After a while the thread is ready, and i mass download it. Still waiting for the single images (wallpaper sized, and HR ones). finished loading, good! Not good... images only half loaded, reload :-|
Reload.
STFU, i'll just try with Opera. Well, i tought it was the server, slow. It was FF. Loaded all the images i wanted in less time that FF took to half load them! O_O'
So, as it seems, FF dosen't like big images :-( and that's bad.
Thanks for your attention, here your weekly wallpaper (a catgirl)

Haev sum ROFFLES responsably

Yesterday i hurted my right hand (ouch) while roffling. Nobody cares about that, i know it :P
On the other hand (lol, got it?) i got a request for Gantz or Ghost in the shell wallpaper. Never heard before the first series, but i know GITS. Bad thing? I happen to have no ecchi wallpaper of GITS.
In the end, i picked up a wallpaper from Haruhi.

P.S. the issue with the fot was THAT font i used last time. For some reason it locked out a good amount of the other.
